Rhodium is a precious metal, a member of the platinum family. We at Jennings Jewelers use Rhodium electroplating to protect jewelry on its surface to resist scratches and tarnish. Jewelry treated with rhodium plating will have a white, reflective appearance. It is used mostly on white gold, which is actually an alloy or mixture of gold and a white metal, such as nickel, silver or palladium. Rhodium does not tarnish or discolor. A very thin layer of rhodium electroplating is used to make white gold jewelry shine and look beautiful for a long time.
